a smattering of various subjects

I saw a woman at Starbucks this morning that gave me an idea of what life will look like for me in 10 years. She was a cheerful, petite woman who was there with her 8 or 9 year old son. What made me think of myself was that, at the age of 8 or 9, he already came up to her shoulders. That's going to be me. I'm going to completely lose whatever air of authority I might have had as a mother by the time my child is 11 because they will outgrow me. And as Ginny McKinney always said: "It's funny because it's true!"

Wow. I'm definately having a bad hair day. This static-cling mane is being put into a ponytail straight away!

This is my hair today.

Last night I painted my fingernails what I have officially dubbed "Timoni Purple" because the color looked so perfect and true on her fingernails (It's that same purple you wore a week ago, Timoni). I've decided to try and make my nails look fresh and neat once a week. Otherwise they look grody, and we can't have that now, can we? Certainly not!... I have to impress the dudes...

In my infinate just-had-surgery boredom I began a book I bought ages ago at a library book sale but never got around to readin. It's Amy Tan's the Bonesetter's daughter, and it's quite good so far. Granted I'm only on page 60 out of about 400, so I'm definately aware that it could go downhill quickly. But whatevs, I'm not concerned.

I am, however, concerned about my test tomorrow!!! There is so much information. I have to know a gazillion things about various fibers - some simple like cotton, others complex like polyeurethane vinyl - and I'm starting to panic. AAAH. Not to mention random stuff like what a beater does on a loom (ok, actually, that's an easy one) and what kinds of fibers we know for sure existed in 4000 BC. And what the cellulosic origin of linen is. So much stuff, so little time to learn it in!

And off I skip to Common Grounds :)
